My Successful program - One Spark CDI with IC NE555

Background

It was my intention to build powerful CDI but without too many expense. Then I found Multi Spark CDI from Silicon Chip. This article was extremely pleased me, and then I try to build this. But my experiment seems not success at all, it’s because there are no IR2155 IC in my place. And I start looking up this IC on the internet.

I found this IC cheapest at IR website, www.irf.com, but… still it is to expensive for the shipping cost. So… I’m desperate and close this project. I rather buy used cheap CDI in my place with Rp 70.000 ( $6 ) than build that expensive CDI.  But several month after that my motorcycle CDI suddenly broken, and I have no money at all that time… well I had some actually J. It was too naïve if I spent all my money just for a new brand CDI, so I decide to build one with all component parts that I had.

Building Project

After collecting all literature that I got, I started to build my own CDI. Actually I just modified my old dead Shindengen CDI from Honda Grand 4 stroke 100cc, because I was too lazy to build the things from new. Looking appearance isn’t really matter for me J

My old Shindengen was dead on the IC only, so I can use the other part of it. Because I just need the replacement of this IC, I just build this circuit. It was because I had to finish this thing in a day,  cause tomorrow I had to begin to work.
